Licence: this Mac and its modules
Who the licence is for, which modules this Mac has, and how to free the seat when you move to another Mac.
Setup > Licence shows this Mac's licence the way your account at shadowrack.eu does: who it's for, what's in it, what runs on this Mac. It's also where you switch a module off on one Mac and free the Mac's place when you move to another. Open Setup (⌘,) and click LICENCE.
- 1Who it's for: the name, the email and this Mac's name
- 2The state: ACTIVE
- 3WHAT IT HAS: how many of the three parts are in the licence
- 4A module's switch: on or off on this Mac
- 5Check again

- 7Deactivate this Mac
Who and which Mac since 0.5#
At the top: a circle with initials, the name the licence is for (or the email), then email - this Mac's name. A Mac activated with files, without internet, adds activated without internet.
The chip on the right says where this Mac stands:
| Chip | Means |
|---|---|
| ACTIVE | Activated online. |
| ACTIVE - OFFLINE | Activated with the two files, for a Mac without internet (activation). |
| NOT ACTIVATED | The licence is gone from this Mac (see below). Shadow Rack keeps running until you quit it. |
What it has#
One row per module, with its logo, name and line:
- Shadow Rack FX – Your plugins on the channels
- Shadow Rack IEM – The musicians' 360 in-ear mixes
- Shadow Rack WING Extension – The Behringer WING runs the rack and the in-ears
On the left, 3 of 3 parts (or fewer). A module in the licence has a switch. One that isn't says Not in this licence and has a Get it link to the shop. What each module brings: Modules.
Switching a module off on this Mac#
The switches are for Macs that do one job. A Mac that only runs the in-ears at the monitor desk doesn't need Rack FX: switch it off there and that Mac starts straight into the in-ears.
- A switch only changes this Mac. The licence and your other Macs stay as they are.
- It takes effect at the next start. Until then the row says Off after a restart or On after a restart in yellow. After the restart, a module switched off reads Switched off on this Mac.
- Rack FX and Rack IEM can't both be off – one of them is the app. Switch off the last one and the other comes back on (or the same one, if the licence doesn't have the other).
- Without Rack FX there are no rack channels. A session you open keeps its channels in the file, untouched, for when Rack FX is back on.
- Without Rack IEM there's no IEM layer and no in-ear engine.
The restart bar#
As soon as a switch differs from what's running, a yellow bar appears: Switched on or off: Shadow Rack starts with it after a restart.
Restart now asks first: Restart Shadow Rack? – The audio stops for a few seconds while it starts again. Your rack is saved. Restart quits Shadow Rack and opens it again by itself. You don't have to use the button: the change also applies the next time you start Shadow Rack yourself.
Check again#
Bought another module? Click Check again (it reads Checking... for a moment). The new module's row gets a switch and On after a restart; restart and it's there. The same check also runs by itself, in the background, every time Shadow Rack starts – the start never waits for it.
My account at shadowrack.eu opens your account in the browser: your Macs, your licences, what you've bought.
Deactivate this Mac#
A licence covers three Macs. To move to a new one, free this Mac's place first:
- Click Deactivate this Mac. It turns red: Sure? Click again to deactivate.
- Click it again within 4 seconds. If you don't, it goes back to normal and nothing happens.
- The place is freed online and the licence is gone from this Mac. Shadow Rack keeps running until you quit it; the next start asks for activation.
You can do the same from My account at shadowrack.eu, for a Mac you no longer have.
When the licence goes away by itself#
Shadow Rack checks with shadowrack.eu at every start, in the background. If the answer is that this Mac's licence is gone – deactivated on the website or another Mac, refunded or revoked – you're told at once, This Mac isn't activated any more, and nothing stops: Shadow Rack keeps running until you quit it - nothing stops now. At its next start it asks for activation.
No internet is never a reason. A Mac activated online has to see the internet once in 60 days; a Mac activated with files never has to. More in Activating Shadow Rack.
