Keyboard shortcuts
Every keyboard shortcut in one place, grouped by what it's for.
Every shortcut, grouped by what it's for. A shortcut only works where it makes sense: plugin keys in the CHANNEL view with a plugin selected, channel keys while the rack is showing (not Setup, not the IEM layer). Elsewhere the menu item is greyed out and the key does nothing.
Setup > About has a short list of the common ones (About); this page has them all.
Session#
| Keys | What | Where |
|---|---|---|
| ⌘N | New session (asks first if there are unsaved changes) | always |
| ⌘O | Open... | always |
| ⌘S | Save | always |
| ⌘⇧S | Save as... | always |
| ⌘Q | Quit (always asks: Quit Shadow Rack?) | always |
Edit#
| Keys | What | Where |
|---|---|---|
| ⌘Z | Undo – the menu says which step, e.g. Undo Remove Pro-C 2 | when there's something to undo |
| ⌘⇧Z | Redo | when there's something to redo |
| ⌘C | Copy plugin, with its settings | CHANNEL view, plugin selected |
| ⌘V | Paste plugin, after the selected one | CHANNEL view |
| ⌘D | Duplicate plugin | CHANNEL view, plugin selected |
| ⌫ | Remove plugin (undo brings it back) | CHANNEL view, plugin selected |
⌘Z while you type a name or a search undoes the typing, never a step in the rack.
Channels#
| Keys | What | Where |
|---|---|---|
| ← / → | Previous / next channel | rack showing |
| ↩ | Rename channel | rack showing |
| ⇧B | Bypass channel (again: back on) | rack showing |
| ⌘⇧N | Add mono channel | rack showing, without a WING |
| ⌘⌥N | Add stereo channel | rack showing, without a WING |
| ⌘⇧D | Duplicate channel, with its plugins | rack showing, without a WING |
| ⌘⌫ | Delete channel | rack showing |
Plugins#
| Keys | What | Where |
|---|---|---|
| ↑ / ↓ | Previous / next plugin in the chain | CHANNEL view |
| ⌘T | Add plugin... – after the selected one, or at the end | CHANNEL view |
| B | Bypass plugin (again: back on) | CHANNEL view, plugin selected |
| ⌘⇧W | Open in window (pins it) | CHANNEL view, plugin selected |
| ⌘⇧P | My plugins... (Setup > Plugins) | always |
Show#
| Keys | What | Where |
|---|---|---|
| ⌘⇧B | Bypass everything – panic: every channel plays without its plugins; again: plugins back | always (with Rack FX) |
| T | Tap tempo – for tempo-synced delays and modulation | always |
Views#
| Keys | What | Where |
|---|---|---|
| ⌘1 | Mixer | with Rack FX |
| ⌘2 | Channel | with Rack FX |
| ⌘3 | In-ear mixes (IEM) | with Rack IEM |
| ⌘, | Setup (again: back to the rack) | always |
| ⌘⌃F | Full screen | always |
⌘1 and ⌘2 also close Setup and take you from the IEM layer back to the rack.
IEM layer since 0.4#
| Keys | What | Where |
|---|---|---|
| space | Switch the musician's mix between 3D and the last plain mode (MONO the first time) – for comparing | MIX page |
| ↩ / esc | Keep / cancel a name you're typing | renaming a musician or a source |
Changes in the in-ears aren't undo steps: ⌘Z in the IEM layer undoes the rack's last step, not the in-ears'. See the MIX page.
Lists and text fields#
| Where | Keys |
|---|---|
| The plugin list (adding a plugin) | ↑ / ↓ move, ↩ adds, esc clears the search, a second esc closes the list |
| Setup > Plugins | ↩ or a double-click adds the selected plugins; ⌫ removes them from My plugins |
| Renaming a channel | ↩ (or clicking away) keeps the name, esc cancels |
While you type in a text field, single keys like B, T or the arrows type into the field – they don't bypass or tap.
Mouse with modifier keys#
| Move | What |
|---|---|
| ⌘-click a strip | Add it to the selection, or take it out (mixer) |
| ⇧-click a strip | Select everything from the last clicked strip to this one |
| Drag a plugin onto another channel | Move it there; with ⌥ held, copy it |
| ⇧-drag a fader, a knob or a send level | Fine adjustment |
| Double-click a fader or knob | Back to its home value (0 dB, ROOM off...) |
| Double-click a channel's name | Rename it |
| Double-click a plugin in the chain | Open it in its own window |
| Right-click a strip, a plugin, a tile | Its menu |
| ⌥-click SOLO (IEM) | This source alone, other solos cleared |
| ⌥-drag one side of a stereo source (IEM) | Change its width |
| Scroll over a source on the scene (IEM) | Raise or lower it, 5° a step |
